It's only a building, right?

Mr. Thomas M. Brennan, 71, of 800 County Route 39, unexpectedly
passed away on Tuesday evening, Jan. 19, 2010 at Alice Hyde Medical
Center, Malone.
Tom was born Jan. 30, 1938 in Oneida, the son of Robert and Hilda
Pitcher Brennan. He graduated from Oneida High School and attended
two years at Utica College.
In 1965, Tom began working for NewChannels in Rome, beginning as a
technician later becoming a manager. In 1972, he transferred to
Massena where he continued to work until his retirement in 1995. He
was former member of the Massena Chamber of Commerce and a
communicant of St. Mary’s Catholic Church. He was an avid reader and
enjoyed golfing, skiing, traveling, and his computer.
Tom is survived by his significant other, Mary Weegar; her daughter,
Kelly Shatraw of Liverpool and her children, Devon and Serena; two
brothers and sisters-in-law, Robert G. Jr. and Patricia Brennan,
Dayton, Ohio and John Douglas and Gabrielle Brennan, Frankfurt,
Germany; dear cousins, Nancy and Don Brien and their daughter,
Kiernan Zamperetti, Canandaigua; and nieces and nephews.
He was predeceased by his parents, Robert and Hilda. Friends may
call Friday, Jan. 22, 2010, from 7-9 p.m. at the Donaldson Funeral
Home, 100 N. Main Street, Massena. A Mass of Christian Burial will
be celebrated Saturday 11 a.m. at St. Mary’s Catholic Church,
Massena, with Rev. J. Michael Gaffney, celebrating. Burial will be
held in the spring at St. Helena’s Cemetery, Oneida. Memorial

Robert S. Smith, 71, of the Sunnybrook Acres area of Allegheny Township, died Saturday, April 4, 2009, in University of Pittsburgh Medical Center. He was born April 7, 1937, in Oneida, N.Y., a son of the late Jerald C. and Alberta I. (Whedon) Smith. He was employed for 26 years as a technologist in the packaging division of Alcoa Laboratories at the Merwin Laboratory in Upper Burrell Township, until his retirement in 1989. Mr. Smith was very active in community affairs in Allegheny Township. He served eight years on the township recreation committee, five years on the township municipal authority and 15 years on the Kiski Area Youth Commission. He also served many years in the Allegheny Township Little League as coach, manager and president of the league and as assistant district administrator of Little League District 26. Robert was also active in the Allegheny Township Lions Club, where he served as president. In 1987, he was honored as Volunteer of the Year by Make-A-Wish foundation for Western Pennsylvania of his fund raising efforts for Make-A-Wish. Mr. Smith was also active in Holy Innocents Church, Leechburg. He served on the vestry for several years as both junior and senior warden. He was also active in the Episcopal Diocese of Pittsburgh, serving on the Aided Parishes Subcommittee and the Small Churches Subcommittee. He graduated from the State University of New York at Morrisville with a major in food technology. He was a member of the Institute for Engineering Technicians, The Institute of Food Technologist, The American Society of Testing Materials, The American Defense Preparedness Association and the American Society of Packaging Technologist. He was certified by the US Food and Drug Administration as a supervisor for food packaging. A loving husband, father and grandfather, he will by truly missed. He most enjoyed attending his grandsons' many sporting events, watching sports on TV and golfing. Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Margot S. (Skonzak) Smith; two sons, R. Scott (Christine) Smith, of Jeannette, and Paul B. (Deneen) Smith, of Allegheny Township; a daughter, Margo L. (John) Shannon, of Washington Township; six grandchildren, Erica Smith and her fiance, Donald Riggle, Christopher, Michael and Nicholas Smith, John Ryan Shannon and Matthew Shannon; and two brothers, his twin, Raymond S. (Nancy) Smith, of Lewiston, N.Y., and Jerald C. Smith, of Oneida, N.Y. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Ronald Smith, in 2008; and a sister, Anna Margaret Smith, in 1947.
